 Tahoma Bears Cheer Rescheduled

Have a future Cheerleader in your house?

Join the Tahoma Cheerleaders for a mini Cheer camp on January 3rd - 4th & 5th with a performance on the 5th.

Campers will perform at half time on Friday, January 5th at the Girls Varsity Basketball game at Tahoma High School

WHEN: January 3rd - 4th & 5th
WHERE: Tahoma High School Multi Room
TIME: 6:30 to 8:30 pm
AGES: 5 to 12
COST: $30.00 per camper includes a camp tee-shirt

Last Chance Football Equipment Check-in

Football equipment check-ins will be one Saturday December 16th from noon to  2pm, check-ins will done at the football container at Tahoma Middle School.

2006 Cheerleading Championships

2006 Cheer Championships will be held November 11th 2006.  Scheduled at Graham-Kapowsin High School.

Cheer Stunting Rules and Stunts
All Cheer Teams must follow the CJFL Stunting Rules.

List of stunts that can be used during the Championships.

  3. Elevator
  4. Shoulder Sit
  5. Overhead Straddle (5 girls)

These Stunts can be found in the "Developing a Successful Cheerleading Program"

A 50 point penalty will be assessed if the stop/start whistle is not used properly.

2007 Board Elections

Are you interested in serving on the Maple Valley Junior Football & Cheerleading Board? Great! Maple Valley Junior Football & Cheerleading needs positive and strong volunteers to participate in the board in order to continue making Maple Valley Junior Football & Cheerleading be a great youth sports program! Below are some expectations for board members:

Candidates for the board support and grow the Maple Valley Junior Football & Cheerleading youth football and cheer program to make the program positive and successful for all members. Candidates should be willing to donate their time, energy and ideas while being a positive and professional role model for youth sports.

  • Board positions are a two year commitment.

  • In addition to regular board positions requirements, board members are required to attend board meetings (at least monthly).

  • Board members are required to attend and participate in various program activities including but not limited too:

    • home games

    • all program registrations

    • summer camps

    • equipment handouts

  • Community Events - Maple Valley Junior Football & Cheerleading also has the opportunity to participate in various community events, either to promote the program or to fundraise. Some events that require participation are Maple Valley Days parade, Rhythm and Blues (concessions fundraiser), Fourth of July (concessions fund raiser).

  • Some board members are required or encouraged to attend the Cascade League meetings (board meetings, director meetings, etc.).

All elected positions are contingent upon successful completion of state and federal back ground checks.

Elections will be held at the General Membership Meeting on November 9th, 2006 at  the Tahoma Junior High Gym  from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.  All members in good standing are permitted to vote. The cheerleaders will also be having their Championship dress rehearsal performance!

Candidates Expectations:
Candidates are expected to promote good sportsmanship, including how they inform members of their skills for the position. This includes but is not limited to using member information appropriately, and not sending e-mails, physical mail or distributing paper propaganda to members by anyone. This is important to ensure that all candidates have equal access to members and that member information is not inappropriately used.

Candidates are permitted to discuss positive aspects of their qualifications with members. This means it is okay to talk with members, but don’t contact members inappropriately.

Any inappropriate campaigning contacts or otherwise not following these guidelines could be grounds for disqualifications.

Any candidate who, or has another person on their behalf inappropriately uses member information may also be disqualified.

The board would like to post candidate pictures along with candidate information. You may either have your picture taken or provide an appropriate picture. Please contact Allan Chissus, Kristi Korolak or Gina Hagen regarding photos.

The goal is to have candidate photos and applications posted on the Maple Valley Raiders web site and at practice by Monday November 6, 2006. Candidate information will also be available at the general membership meeting.

No Football Practice

There will be no football practice Friday October 27th.


James Geddes

Sunday October 21st will be the last time the team photographer James Geddes will have a display for you to view and purchase photos.


Raiders Annual Spaghetti Feed & Silent Auction


Join us for you annual Spaghetti Feed & Auction October 18th at the Tahoma High School!

Also our annual Spaghetti feed/ silent auction will be held Wednesday, October 18th from 6-9pm at the Tahoma High School.  Tickets bought at the door are $5 per person or $20 for the whole family! 

We would like to thank Mama Passerelli Dinner House and CJ’s Bakery for there donations.  There will many auction items and gift baskets up for action.

Rumor has it one basket has Seahawk tickets a RV pass and an autographed Seahawk Football.


Tahoma High School Football Game

We have been invited to cheer during half/time at the Tahoma High School football game. Friday night September 29th our Raider boys will be playing a scrimmage during 1/2 time while our cheerleaders will be cheering them on.

The game starts at 7:00 The cheerleaders will get in for free, they will have to check in at the ticket booth first. Adults are $5.00.

Please make sure your child is supervised.


Football Practice

Football practice starts on August 1st for the entire month of August, Monday - Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Tahoma Middle School.  Starting September practice times will change to 5:30 - 7:30 pm on Tues, Wed and Thursdays at Tahoma Middle School.

Cheerleading Practice Update

The Cheerleading practice scheduled for Thursday August 31st has been canceled.

Practice / Location Update

We will see you all Tuesday September 5th at Tahoma Junior High School (New Location-not Tahoma Middle School). Practice will continue to be from 6:00-8:00 pm. For the most part we will be at the Junior High either in the Commons or Gym; however a few times the school will not be available and we will be at Glacier Park. Please check your schedule in your parent hand book.

Please be sure that you do not drop off earlier than 5:45 (practice starts at 6:00 PM) and a coach must be present. Regardless of age, please stay with your athlete until a coach is present. This is important for safety as well as school policy for use of the facility.


2006 Mandatory Football Weigh-ins

2006 Mandatory weigh-ins at Sumner High School Parking Lot August 19th.

  • 89ers, Sweet Peas & Bantams - 1 pm

  • Midgets & Pee Wees - 2 pm

LAST CHANCE weigh-in August 23rd 6 - 8 pm at Puyallup.

If you cannot make one of the dates listed your MUST contact your League Representative for special arrangements, BEFORE August 23rd.

Family Fun Night

We will be having a Family Fun Night on August 11, 2006 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm during normal hours of practice.  Pre-Order forms for rides and food will be available all next week and all our apparel will be available for purchase.

Football Equipment Pickup

If you are a football player attending "Becoming a Bear" camp you need to pickup your equipment at Tahoma Middle School (behind middle school at the containers) Sunday July 9th from 12 - 5pm.

  • Pee Wee & Midgets - 12-1 pm
  • Bantams - 1-2 pm
  • Sweet Peas - 2-3 pm
  • 89ers - 3-5 pm

Football & Cheer Camp

The sounds of football and cheerleading will echo a little earlier this summer in famous Bill Maxwell Field. From July 10-13, from 5:30-7:30pm, Tahoma High School will host the first “Becoming a Bear” summer camp for all Raiders Football Teams (ages 8 up) and Cheerleaders (K-8th grade). Cheer camp is open to anyone K-8. Camp instructors will include Tahoma High School Coaches, Players and Cheerleaders. Full Concessions will be offered.  Cost for the team football camp is $75/player. Cost for the cheer camp is $50/cheerleader. All campers receive a T-Shirt. Look for sign-up opportunities at Maple Valley Days and receive more information!

Varsity Cheerleaders are holding two car washes, Sunday May 21st and Sunday June 11th from 11 - 3pm at the 4 Corners car wash in Maple Valley

Sign Ups

Maple Valley Cheerleading general sign ups (Cheer ages 7-15 on or before July 31st) start April 1st at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Ravensdale Park at Maple Valley Pony Baseball opening day. Information about cheerleading will be given out at Tahoma Little League Opening Day Kentlake 10:00 am, But NO CHEER sign ups at the Kentlake location.

Maple Valley Football returnee's and general sign ups start April 1st at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Maple Valley Pony Baseball Opening Day at Ravensdale Park and Tahoma Little League Opening Day at Kentlake 10:00 am (Football players must meet weight and age requirements inquire at sign ups).

Additional sign ups will be held in June until teams are full.
